APA | SD presents: Culture & Coffee February 16th

Join APA | SD for our next Culture & Coffee event, including a members-only tour at The Photographer’s Eye: A Creative Collective. Meet us on Friday, February 16th at 12 PM to tour their latest exhibition by ALANNA AIRITAM: New Histories – Where Present Meets Past.

This is a great way to connect, meet other members, learn more about APA, and ask your fellow peers and board members any questions.

Untitled 2023 Finalists and Gallery Exhibition

Join APA | San Diego at Bread & Salt Gallery for a one-night only exhibition of photographic prints from our Untitled 2023 contest with 20% of the entry proceeds being donated to Outside the Lens in support of their mission and programming.

See all competition entries shown in a rotating slideshow and come out to support the photo community. Winning entries were curated by Ann M. Jastrab, Executive Director at Center for Photographic Art and Arianna Rinaldo, Independent curator, photography consultant and freelance photo editor.

 Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finalists.

Culture & Coffee Member Event, August 25th

Join APA | SD for a casual gathering for members at The San Diego Museum of Art on Friday, August 25th from 12pm-2pm PT to tour some of the current exhibitions, O’Keeffe and Moore and Bruce Davidson: Subway.

We’ll meet for coffee at the CRAFT CAFÉ at Mingei at noon and walk over to the museum a little before 1pm.

This is a great way to meet other members, learn more about APA and ask your fellow peers and board members any industry questions.

The Craft Cafe at Mingei is located at: Balboa Park, Plaza de Panama, 1439 El Prado, and San Diego, CA 92101 across from SDMA. Join us for coffee or just the tour. This is a member’s appreciation meet up and a chance to be more involved with your local chapter. We sincerely hope to see you there.

APA | SD Happy Hour, Wednesday, June 21st

APA Happy Hour. Enjoy drinks and snacks with APA San Diego.

Join APA | SD for Happy Hour on Wednesday, June 21st, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at Panama 66 in Balboa Park. This happy hour is 21+ and open to the larger photo and creative community. We’ll be outside in the covered patio area enjoying some drinks and food. Meet and mingle with peers and APA members, talk shop, and get to know our sponsors. Registration isn’t needed, but we would love to know if you could join us. 

APA | SD members are encouraged to attend! Live music begins at 7PM with GILBERT CASTELLANOS YOUNG LIONS.

Personal Work Virtual Roundtable | Postponed NOW June 10th, 2020

Do you have a photography project or series you’re passionate about? Curious what your peers and others think of it? Join APA | SD in a virtual roundtable on Wednesday, June 10th at 4 PM PST, to share your own work or to comment on the work of others. Five photographers will be selected to present and discuss their personal photography projects in a virtual critique session. Send us a link to your project and we’ll review and discuss how this work benefits you, your clients and our industry. You’re encouraged to share personal work along with client work to help inspire our community.

WHEN: Thursday, June 10, 2020 | Roundtable starts at 4 PM

Now’s your chance to show off your directorial dexterity at the upcoming screening roundtable discussion ‘Making The Move To Motion.’ Send us your 5-minute (max) motion project (on any topic) and join us on Thursday, February 20th for APA San Diego’s silver screen event. Popcorn and beverages will be served.

The most interesting and accomplished pieces will be selected and shown large, so compress to impress.

All levels of photographers and cinematographers are encouraged to join the night’s discussions.

To submit, please send a link to director@apasd.org by February 17th.

We will screen as many submissions as possible.
