Come – join us and some of California’s top photographers at what is now a venerable tradition: arrive at Waypoint Public with loose print and depart in the wee hours filled with winter cheer, your heart full of holiday spirit, your hands clutching a new and wonderful photograph.

Untitled 2016 Winners Announced

APA|SD would like to thank all of the attendees and participants that helped make the Untitled 2016 exhibition such a success. More than 250 entries were received and the top 30 were curated by our judge, top American art buyer Josette Lata. The prints were displayed at 3rdSpace for a one-night-only event and silent auction benefiting MOPA. More than $5,000 in prizes were awarded by our gracious sponsors.

Beggars Banquet featuring Anton Orlov

Join APA San Diego in welcoming Anton Orlov to the Beggars Banquet series. Anton Orlov is an award winning artist working in the analog film medium, specifically wet plate, tintype and ambrotype. Anton is currently traveling the country in a converted 35ft school bus, the rear 12ft of which has been turned into a full-size darkroom for his project The Photo Palace. Beggars Banquet with Anthony Friedkin

APA San Diego invites you to the first of the Beggars Banquet series featuring renowned Los Angeles photographer Anthony Friedkin in an intimate one-on-one studio setting. His photographs are included in the permanent collections of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His pictures have been published and exhibited internationally.

Celebrating a lifetime as an artist with a camera, Mr. Friedkin will be showing his hand-made, fine art darkroom prints chosen from various photo essays he has accomplished through the years. These include The Gay Essay, the Hollywood Series, images from his heralded Wave Portfolio and his new panoramas documenting LA Street Art.

Get Moving: Motion and Video Roundtable

Have you made the move to making movies?

Now’s your chance to show off your directorial dexterity at the APA San Diego Motion and Video Roundtable. 

Send us your 5 minute (max) motion project (on any topic) and meet us on June 15th with your popcorn bowl for APA San Diego’s silver screen event. 

The most interesting and accomplished pieces will be selected and shown large, so compress to impress.

All levels of photographers and cinematographers are encouraged to join the night’s discussions.

To submit, please send a link to director@apasd.org or bring along the file the night of. We will screen as many submissions as possible.
